by Robert Greenberger p.11 If nothing else, Data would see that his captain was concerned for his well-being and know that he could count on his help. Even if receiving emotional support no longer mattered to Data, offering that support mattered to Picard. p.46 The man seemed young for the diplomatic corps. Delta Sigma IV could well have been one of his first assignments. While this planet was a cultural curiosity, it was not strategically vital, so a newly minted ambassador was about all that the Federation could spare for a centennial party, the captain surmised. At least he hadn't had the time to develop that know-it-all crust Picard had found so grating in many senior diplomats. p.58-59 Riker noticed that Seer was an experienced and smooth pilot. In many ways, the man reminded Riker of Worf, now the Federation ambassador to the Klingon Empire. Poor Worf; Riker had respected the man, but he knew that even he had father issues. For that matter, Data was an android, and even he couldn't escape conflict with Noonien Soong. p.67 "Humans seem to dislike easy analysis," Data offered. "True, but we also seem to wish for a lot of those things we cannot have," he said. "The grass is greener syndrome is the term," Data said. "That's the one. These seem like nice people, so you don't want them to suffer," La Forge said. "Of course not. Wishing suffering on anyone does not make sense." "Amen to that," Vale called out. p.98 "I've personally mediated with the Bader," Morrow said, still sipping from his bottle. "If you think Tellarites or Klingons are aggressive, these people make them seem like tribbles." p.155-156 "He won't cause trouble, and I need a favor from him." "I'd make it quick if I were you," Perim chided from her post. "I didn't invite him for high tea," La Forge said, heading for the turbolift. "That is wise, since we do not normally serve high tea," Data said. La Forge chuckled to himself, remembering how unintentionally funny Data could be without his emotion chip. p.194-195 "You want to go galactic. I could coordinate the efforts here, since we're the only ship stationary at the moment." "A logical point," Data admitted. La Forge thought about it a bit and nodded, smiling. "In fact, by channeling everything through us, it'd give me a chance to chat up the other engineers. A little off-the-record gossip here and there might help convince people we're still right in the thick of things." "You mean, convince them through unofficial means that the speculation regarding our collective competency is incorrect." "Just what I said," La Forge said with a laugh. "Let's get started." p.225-226 "They find the commander's dad yet?" "No." "Dr. Crusher figure this out yet?" "No." "What to come back to my cabin after you finish this?" She smiled broadly. "No." NAMES: Nybakken, Kawasaki, Chen'farth, Anh, Upton, Bader, Dorset, Colton, Morrow, Whis, Anann, Carmona, Jus Renks Jus, Kresla, Chkarand, Smada, Tregor, Unoo, Huni, Tomed, slyggians, Mokarad, Wasdin, Dolog, Cander, Jama, Osedah, Nasset, Tirnannarot, Iraid, Shunks, Osani, Male'finkatta, Cholan, Meryn, Mander, Hust, Moq, Dorina, Keslik, Caledon, Caldwell, Grigsby, DeMato, Locke, Olivarez, Xindi, Vasha, Massaro, Dasan, Perez, Simone, Gonzalez, Melo, Brittan
